Registration form

You can do the DofE at a school (or other organisation) involved in the DofE. If your school doesn't provide DofE, that's fine! You can apply for the DofE online, which is essentially the same thing - we'll just assign you a mentor from elsewhere. Apart from that, completing the programme is exactly the same. Check the application form to see which option applies to you.

(we will guide you through the application step by step)

1. What is the DofE and what is it for?

The DofE is a challenge for anyone aged 14 to 24 to force you to work on yourself regularly. Get involved and choose a skill, movement and volunteering you want to do for an hour a week. At the end of it, you'll have an adventurous expedition with your friends. Through DofE you'll get better at the things you enjoy, find time to help others, gain great experience that will be useful in your future life, plus receive an internationally recognised certificate under the British Royal Family.

2. What are the 4 areas in the DofE?

You can also choose areas that you are already involved in but want to improve. In each area, you then set a goal to work towards. Are you interested in specific examples? Check out Opportunities or at voluntenik.cz .

Skill

You have many choices in this area. From playing a musical instrument to learning a foreign language to cooking or programming. You'll set achievable goals to improve your skills, work on your talents or learn a whole new set of skills. The important thing is that you enjoy it.
Examples of activities

Motion

Physical activity will help you improve your performance and physical fitness. You might work on teamwork in volleyball or meet new people in ice skating. You don't have to be the best and win medals, you just have to want to push yourself a little further. You'll also learn to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Volunteering

When volunteering, you can work on yourself, but you can also help others. You will need to develop your tolerance, responsibility and patience. In addition to tutoring classmates, this includes cleaning up the woods, working with children, helping at the food bank, and much more. You can ask your leader about volunteer opportunities.

Expeditions

The expedition is a challenge for you to overcome the fear of the unknown and also an opportunity to go with a group for a few days in the countryside and discover interesting places in the Czech Republic and abroad. An expedition always has a purpose, for example, mapping forgotten places, collecting plants for the herbarium or climbing an entire navigable stretch of river.

3. What levels can you choose from?

Bronze level

  • You will take part in a team expedition in nature for 2 days (1 night).
Silver level
  • You have been involved in the activities for at least 6 months. If you're not a Bronze Award winner, you'll choose one of them to pursue for 6 months longer.
  • You will take part in a team expedition in nature for 3 days (2 nights).
Gold level
  • You have been involved in the activities for at least 12 months. If you're not a Silver Award winner, you'll choose one of them to pursue for 6 months longer.
  • You will take part in a team expedition in the countryside for 4 days (3 nights). You will spend 5 days (4 nights) on a residential project in the Czech Republic or abroad.

4. How much time does it take and how much does it cost?

Each of the areas you're involved in 1 hour per week. So all in all, the DofE will take you 3 hours per week for the duration of the chosen level. You can't work out the hours in advance, it's the regularity that's important. Of course, if you go on holiday or are not in time, nothing happens, but the schedule is extended by the unfulfilled time. In the course of your schedule you will have an expedition with your friends.

How much will it cost? That depends on the level you choose. The registration fee is 200 to 600 CZK. If the expedition is arranged by the National Centre, you also need an extra allow for shipping costswhich are: 1 500 CZK for the bronze level, 2000 CZK for the silver level and 2250 CZK for the gold level. If you are in a difficult social situation, we can waive the registration fee or you can apply for support for the expedition from our Social Fund.

5. How should you choose your goals?

Your supervisor will also help you choose your goals and guide you through the program, coaching/mentoring you, setting goals with you and leading you to the ceremony and certificate.

6. Find out if your school is in the DofE
