The 68 male and female students received their Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) Bronze and Silver Awards at County Hall on 20 February 2024. They receive these awards after completing the programme, which originated in the UK and was founded in 1956 by Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II. Twelve graduates received a silver certificate and 56 graduates received a bronze certificate. A total of 21 organisations are involved in the programme in the South Bohemia Region.

The South Bohemian Region concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation with the DofE in 2021 and according to Deputy Governor for Education Pavel Klíma, this is a good step towards supporting general education. The main credit for its success goes to the teachers and leaders who live the programme at that particular school and motivate students by their example. "The whole movement is amazing in that it comes from below, so to speak. It can't be ordered. The voluntariness is something that can't be taught, and it makes the whole project work so beautifully. As a long-time director, I can say that this can only be passed on by example. Which is exactly what is happening thanks to dedicated teachers and leaders. All of you sitting here who have risen to the challenge know exactly what this means to you. And I actually add, as a former principal, that this is a dimension that was missing from the Czech choir. You may not know it, but there are fellow directors sitting here who will confirm it for me. It's something that's hard to get into the choir room from the top,"Klíma said during the festive meeting and promised all those who can motivate students by their own example that he will do everything he can to ensure that the South Bohemia Region continues to support the programme.

The award ceremony is held annually. The event is the culmination of a long-term effort by pupils and students to develop in the areas of movement, skills and volunteering. An adventurous team expedition in the outdoors awaits them at the end of the programme. "DofE develops young people, connects, inspires and motivates them to step out of their comfort zone and volunteer in an area of their choice with a goal they want to achieve. It has a long tradition around the world. It was founded by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1956 precisely to give young people the opportunity to develop themselves in every way," said Barbora Míková, Regional Manager for Southwest Bohemia, who said that in the UK and America, participation in the programme is very important in the university admissions process.
