March marks the one-year anniversary of His Royal Highness Prince Edward's appointment as Duke of Edinburgh, a title previously held by his father Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE for short) is therefore organising fundraising events in collaboration with secondary and primary schools across the country to celebrate the DofE's core values of helping others, belonging, responsibility and understanding between people.

The charity sweet sales at the participating schools are organised by the pupils themselves under the banner of the volunteer DofE initiative Stand By Me / Stand By You, who then choose who in their community they will support with the money raised. For example, the money will go to help a student with cerebral palsy, children with cancer treated at the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at Motol Hospital or to co-finance school trips and other activities of socially disadvantaged pupils from participating schools.

Tips for sweet pastries were also prepared for the event by DofE's honorary patron Kristína Nemčková, sous chef at the Danish restaurant Geranium and winner of the Masterchef 2019 competition.
