Eighteen-year-old DofE student Patricia Krenarová discovered a love of cooking and exercise thanks to the DofE. She has now received her certificate and badge in Pardubice for achieving the silver level. Nearly 100 DofEs and DofEs across the Pardubice Region received their awards at a ceremony in February.
Patricia joined the DofE at the Gymnasium, Business Academy and Language School in Svitavy with the right to take the state language exam. In movement, she set herself a goal of lasting two minutes in a plank, and in skill she learned to cook ten new dishes. And as a volunteer, she helped with the running of the Svitavy Charity. "The DofE was a very enjoyable experience that I would definitely do again.
Thanks to this, I discovered a love for cooking and exercise and realized that if I set clear goals and actively work on them, I can achieve almost anything," says Dofačka.
She also recalls the final expedition, during which she verified that her limits lay further away than she had anticipated. "I feel that I am more confident in many ways now and I am not afraid to overcome the various obstacles that life throws at me," she adds.
The school wants to support students not only in their education but also in their personal growth
According to Markéta Henychová, the head of the DofE, the Svitava secondary school got involved because it wants to support its students not only in their education but also in their personal growth.
"As a supervisor, I have the opportunity to see students overcome challenges, grow and gain new experiences. The program brings me joy in their progress and gives me the opportunity to be a part of their success," she explains.
She admits that the DofE allows her to improve her organisational and motivational skills. "I have gained new experience of working with young people and seeing their efforts bear fruit. It is an enriching experience that inspires me in my personal life," concludes Markéta Henychová.
