Ceremonies in 2020

The measure applies only to the bronze ceremonies, the gold and silver ceremonies remain the same as last year, i.e. they will take place in Prague at the end of October and the beginning of November. The current situation is such that it will be possible to host events for a larger number of people from September onwards, so we are definitely counting on ceremonies in the autumn. 

For your local DofE centre, there are two ways to approach the situation:

1. You can make own ceremony right in your MC.

• In this case, the DofE National Centre will provide you with everything you need for the ceremony.
• We will send you a package with certificates and badges, if there is a larger number of participants (15 or more), there is a possibility that someone from the National Center (Executive Director Tomáš Vokáč, Program Director Michal Jež or your regional manager) will come to your MC to hand over the certificates and badges.
• You can also make arrangements with Local Centres in the area to hold the ceremony together. However, of course, you must respect the government regulation on the number of participants at the event. Here again, if there are more than 15 participants, someone from the National Centre can officiate.

2. You can wait for the Bronze Ceremony in November/December.

• In this case, expect the Bronze Ceremonies this year to be run in a revised format that we have created to be able to recognise as many Bronze entrants as possible, moving closer to the British model of awarding. The Bronze Ceremonies will be simplified in both the entry process and the actual running of the programme.

Remark:

If the epidemiological situation worsens and the restrictive measures are extended or reintroduced, we will be forced to cancel the ceremonies this year. In this case, we will prepare a worthy replacement for the gold and silver ceremonies, which would be held online. We would be forced to cancel the Bronze ceremonies altogether this year due to the increasing number of participants. However, we are confident that things will move in a good direction and this measure will not come to pass.

Award Ceremonies in 2020

Given the current situation, we have decided that this year´s Bronze Award Ceremonies will only take place in the autumn dates (November/December). This measure applies only to Bronze Award Ceremonies, the Gold and Silver Ceremonies remain the same way as last year, they will take place in October and November in Prague. 

 

There are two options of handling the Award Ceremonies

1. You can make your own Award Ceremony directly at your Award Centre (as a part of your school assembly or other suitable event).

• DofE National Centre will provide you with everything you need for the awarding process.
• We will send you a package with certificates and badges and if it will be a larger number of participants (15 and more), there is a possibility to arrange someone from the DofE National Centre to hand over the certificates and badges personally (Executive Director Tomáš Vokáč, Programme Director Michal Jež or your Regional Manager).
• It is also possible to organize Award Ceremony in cooperation with other Award Centres in your area, but it is necessary to respect all the government regulations about the maximum number of participants at the event. Again, if there are more than 15 participants, someone from the Award Centre can be present.

2. You can decide to wait and participate in the autumn Award ceremonies

• Please take into account that this year´s Bronze Award Ceremonies will be held in a revised form so that we can award as many Bronze Award participants as possible. Thus approaching the British model of Award Ceremonies. The Ceremony will be very simplified both in registration and in the process of awarding.

Reminder:

If the epidemiological situation gets worse and restrictive measures will continue or be re-introduced, we will be forced to cancel all Award Ceremonies. For this worst case scenario, we are preparing a substitute for Gold and Silver Award Ceremonies online. However we will have to cancel Bronze Award Ceremonies completely due to the growing number of participants. We truly hope that it won´t come to that.
