High school student Adéla Sporyszová has completed her second level in DofE. After the bronze level, she also reached the silver level and therefore received her certificate and badge at the ceremony in Zlín. She was one of almost seventy awarded DofE students from the whole Zlín region.
Seventeen-year-old Adéla completed her DofE at the Secondary Industrial School and Trade Academy in Uherský Brod. "The DofE has given me the opportunity to push my boundaries and develop skills that have helped me in my personal growth. It taught me perseverance and showed me the importance of collaboration and determination," says Adéla.
In the move, she set a goal of improving her physical fitness and completing a 40-kilometre bike trip. In skills, she regularly learned to cook and bake new recipes and volunteered to lead the Danaj folklore group. "In the DofE I learned that I was capable of overcoming challenges that at first seemed insurmountable. I discovered my inner strength and patience, which pushed me on," she says.
The ceremony is the icing on the cake
Adele's high school has been involved in the programme since 2021. Lenka Vasku, the DofE centre manager, describes how volunteering appealed to her the most. "I approached all the students in Years 1 - 3 and some I was sure would sign up. A group of dofaks also regularly participate in various charity bazaars and other events," she describes.
She admits that even though she spends a lot of her free time on the program during the school year and during the holidays, she finds the work fulfilling. "I've met a lot of passionate students who want to develop themselves while doing something for others. I'm most happy when they see everything through to the ceremony, which is such an icing on the cake. I am very proud of them," adds Lenka Vasku.
